This morning, enjoy a tour of Calgary, a vibrant city blending urban chic with western heritage. See landmarks like the Calgary Tower, Fort Calgary, the Stampede grounds where the annual rodeo is held, and the downtown business district.  Visit of the Sam Centre which connects visitors to Calgary’s Stampede stories.  Immersive and interactive exhibits will reveal the peoples, stories and artifacts of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.

Begin the journey through the foothills of the Rockies towards the town of Banff.  On the way, pass by Calgary Olympic Park with its 90m ski jump tower and bobsleigh track.  Arrive in Banff and check in to the hotel for a three night stay including breakfast.

Banff has a wide range of recreational activities, shopping and night life possibilities.  Banff National Park is the oldest national park in Canada, covering an area of 6,594 sq km.  It is a natural wonderland of mountains, lakes, rivers and canyons and is also a wildlife refuge for elk, deer and bighorn sheep.  In fact, it is not uncommon to see elk or deer grazing by the highway while travelling in the area.  The park is open year round and offers visitors summertime activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, boating, fishing, horseback riding and countless opportunities for photographers.

Depart from the hotel this morning on the Discover Banff & it’s Wildlife 3-hour tour.  Visit Banff viewpoints, landmarks and historic places on this popular half day sightseeing tour.  Enjoy the stunning scenery and short walks to the must see locations, taking photos and watching wildlife.  Hear how the 11,000 year old human history of the Bow Valley changed when three railway workers rediscovered a hidden natural hot spring.  Visit the abandoned mining town of Bankhead, a relic of Banff’s industrial past.  A visit to Banff Gondola is included.  With six stunning mountain ranges and the sweep of the Bow Valley laid out before you, views from the Sulphur Mountain summit are nothing short of breathtaking.

Day at leisure with tour options.

Tonight enjoy the Western Evening Steakfry.  This is a classic Canadian adventure in a remote backcountry area, filled with Western-style activities like lassoing and horseshoes.  Take a serene wagon ride along the Bow River, spotting local wildlife and enjoying mountain views. Finish with a top-quality Western meal and a leisurely ride back, cherishing the memories of this unforgettable experience.

Head to the iconic jewel of the Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise, where the stunning Victoria Glacier towers over turquoise waters.  Visit Yoho National Park for the Natural Bridge of Stone and Emerald Lake.  Explore the Valley of the Ten Peaks and see Moraine Lake before arriving at spectacular Lake Louise.

Embark on a stunning journey along the famous Icefields Parkway to Jasper.  Admire soaring peaks, vast icefields and beautiful valleys along the way.  Stop at Bow Lake, Crowfoot Glacier and Peyto Lake for their natural beauty.  See the convergence of rivers at Saskatchewan River Crossing and the Weeping Wall’s cascading tears.  Reach the Columbia Icefield, boasting one of the largest ice accumulations outside the Arctic Circle.  Enjoy a Columbia Icefield Adventure, one of the most unique attractions in the Canadian Rockies.  Massive Ice Explorers take passengers on a remarkable excursion onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier.  Enjoy the Glacier Skywalk, a perfect balance of breathtaking views, interpretive story-telling and adrenaline-pumping excitement.  Lunch buffet is included at Altitude Restaurant (or we could do a picnic lunch).

Today, soak in the beauty of Jasper National Park, the largest untouched alpine wilderness in the Canadian Rockies.  Explore ancient peaks, glacial lakes, and lush forests teeming with wildlife.  Venture to Maligne Lake, the second-largest glacier-fed lake globally.  Enjoy a picturesque cruise on Maligne Lake, fed by Jasper National Park’s glaciers.  Glide along the shores, surrounded by towering peaks and wildlife.

The destination is the stunning Spirit Island, famous as one of Canada’s most photographed locations.  Lunch Buffet is included at Maligne Lakehouse.  Take a stroll through Maligne Canyon, marvelling at its turquoise waters and deep gorge.  Enjoy views of the rushing river from multiple bridges along the way.  Return to the hotel.

This morning you will be transferred from the hotel to the Rocky Mountaineer Rail Station for the rail journey to Kamloops in Silverleaf/GoldLeaf Service.

Upon check-in for your train departure, you will receive a boarding pass which will indicate your Kamloops accommodation.  Please note all accommodation in Kamloops is considered moderate.

Guest travelling with additional pieces of checked luggage that will not be required while staying overnight in Kamloops, as an added convenience, Rocky Mountaineer would be happy to direct extra checked luggage pieces straight through to the final location at the end of day two of the journey. Note, this luggage will not be accessible until the 2 day train journey is completed so please pack accordingly. This service is optional and can be arranged while checking-in at one of Rocky Mountaineer Guest Centres.  Please note there is no overhead seat storage, and your carry-on bag (eg; large purse or backpack) must fit at your feet.  All medications, valuables, personal items and travel documents must be carried with you in your hand luggage.

Breakfast and lunch will be served onboard the train.  Guests will also receive complimentary snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the rail journey.  The service gratuity for the onboard team (hosts, culinary, cleaners and other non-managerial crew) is included.

Today’s morning sightseeing tour of Vancouver begins with Canada Place & the waterfront with a stop at the Olympic Flame Monument.  Explore Chinatown, North America’s second largest and historic Gastown with its 19^th Century buildings, cobblestone streets and hidden passageways with a stop at the Steam Clock.  On to Granville Island with its famous public market, art and craft shops and many cafes and restaurants.  Enjoy a 2-hour Granville Island Market Tour.  Noisy and chaotic, yet irresistibly atmospheric, Granville Island is Canada’s second most visited tourist attraction, behind Niagara Falls, and Vancouver’s destination for lovers of food, art and culture.  Offering fresh, local, seasonal produce, alongside, a slice of local life, this is where guests rub elbows with Vancouver’s chefs as they shop for tonight’s menu.  During the Granville Island tour, guests will savour a cornucopia of fine foods from independent farmers and food artisans throughout Vancouver and beyond, from duck confit and cheeses to locally-made charcuterie, melt-in-your-mouth donuts, to world-class coffee and chai. Touring Granville Island Public Market will be one of the most authentic ways to experience Vancouver.

Vancouver lies nestled between sea and mountains in the extreme south-western corner of British Columbia.  The physical setting and features of Vancouver make it easily one of the most attractive cities in Canada.  The surrounding hills provide the visitor with beautiful views of the ocean, sheltered bays, the city and of Vancouver port, one of Canada’s busiest ports.

Mid-afternoon depart for Stanley Park.  Make a stop at the Totem Poles and Prospect Point before continuing to North Vancouver and Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.  Appreciate nature from three breathtaking perspectives, the world famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, the seven bridges of Treetops Adventure and the new Cliffwalk, high above Capilano River.

Dinner tonight is at Salmon House on the Hill before returning to Vancouver in the evening.

Visit Flyover Canada. Collect luggage from the hotel and transfer by coach to Seattle.
